Versus Book #76. So I was looking for a new horror book to read and found this one: "The Monster's Corner". This anthology has classic written all over it. The stories are written from the point of view of the monsters of various types. All sorts of beasts, demons, etc. can be found here. The one name I recognized was Simon R. Green after reading "Nightingale's Lament", good book. There are a few other big names in here too which is surprising but very welcome indeed. I like to see this caliber of authors present new, inventive ideas. Now the stories vary a lot and you may wonder if they're really monsters but...

I like to see this caliber of authors present new, inventive ideas. Now the stories vary a lot and you may wonder if they're really monsters but you have to keep in mind that to go into the mind of a monster means there will be similitude between beasts and man. In fact, as there are real monsters in this collection you could go so far as to say that they could even be metaphors for certain types of people. That may be the very reason for any monsters in fiction to begin with so keep that in mind as you delve into the inhuman psyches of these supernatural and beastly monstrosities. This was one of the most anticipated horror anthologies of the year and I can see why. Not many books have tried this. This is what you call a concept book and I like originality of the angle. How many stories have you ever even read that take the point of view of the monster so you can know how it felt? Knowing how they felt might be horror enough. I think any horror fans into this type of book, like me, will love it. Some say the stories could have been more hardcore to an extent. I don't know what to say about that but the quality of authors and concepts is worth the effort. This is a one of a kind anthology that doesn't come around too often and many different types of people can see the appeal here. I was taken simply by the cover and found a treasure.
